Using a high quality digital camera, approximately 500 of the fragile smoked paper records were photographed with funding from the Earth Observatory of Singapore.

The regional center of the Indonesian Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) at Ciputat in the suburbs of Jakarta, holds the archives of historical seismograms recorded in Indonesia. Most valuable among them are about 70,000 Wiechert records of the Jakarta (ex-Batavia) station, going back to 1910.
